Most Amazing Memory

Memories keep coming and thoughts just build them more. I asked myself, if there could be one memory to be shared with my honorable readers, what it should be?

2004-05, was the last year of my engineering and of my batch. 01 batch, what we call it to be. Batch that successfully justified its intake and raised the bar of competitiveness. Something revolutionary happened in the year that boosted my faith in team success.

It was the last year and we wanted to make a mark in 'Theater'. We were trying from three years but could not make a mark to our potential. We had a good team but lagged the polishing of a professional touch. YAC Sir, blessed us against the professional void through a able Director.
As an Engineers, first time we learned things professionally in Theater. We had a team of 6-7 boys. The minor talented boy in the group was trusted with the major role in the act. It was our last chance to prove our worth. We worked hard and were awarded the best play at university level. Work was appreciated and the group was happy to finally make a mark. The story does not end, it begins...

Team qualified for the West Zone Championship. Every one was happy till we finally heard about the saddest phase of any Engineer's life - EXAMINATIONS. Our dates of exams overlapped with that of west zone. As usual, the hope to do something with extra curricular was sacrificed in name of better future, being Engineers with good score sheet.

Team from home science department replaced us. What we built in three years went away within three seconds. We did what engineers do the best, we gambled. We joined hands with home science girls and made a fresh team with their majority. There are rare occasions for Engineering guys to be amongst many girls, we felt lucky to be allowed to visit home science college every day. It was difficult then what it felt, but we got our team in place. Vishal did a fantastic job and got the team in right format. He and YAC sir were the back bone for this new formation and probably the best guys who could have done this.

Finally we were in Jalgoan for our day. We were nervous and almost with minimum hopes to do good. We were competing with the best Theater Colleges in the West. Mumbai was 17 years champion in our category. To make the case worst their was an open stage to which we were not exposed before. Our throats were bad before our act. We lost all the hopes. We just got together and decided to give our best and feel the spirit of participation. I was afraid as we did not had our original team. The open stage spoiled lot of our confidence but I thought we did good untill something shocking happened. Vishal, our back bone, broke down in cry after the act, for me everything ENDED.

Next day Vishal and I took the train back to complete our vivas. We traveled for 14 hrs sitting on the door step of the train compartment with a shaken confidence. The lost was in mind if not in words or conversation. I did what engineers do the best, they start with high energy and high hopes after every exam.

I was climbing the ladders to give my VIVA, in other words finding Bihari OR Mahendra for last moment blessings. A voice came from the back, it was Vishal. He said, we lost. It was though not surprising but still just a minute set back and then back on the search of Bihari and Mahendra. Vishal pulled me back and said some xyz college won the second prize. Rest of our team was there in the function, hoping that we might get second as Mumbai was first for sure. They all were returning back and they heard that first prize was to SP University......WE WERE THE CHAMPIONS....Rest of our Team, of 25 girls ran to the stage to lift that pride and we just missed it....just missed to be over there. I was in complete shock and happiness all coming at same time. We went to receive our team and it was the best memory to visualize the victory through their words. It was the best team effort and the feel was amazing.

My Team became the West Zone Champion in 'One Act Play' and we went to Nationals and stood 4th. You might have just finished reading the previous line BUT we LIVED it. We qualified for the Nationals, no not a big deal to be in Nationals, but the pride to work in a team and lead to success was worth celebrating. It might be just bunch of words, may be a smallest thing to happen, but for our team return on 3 yrs of investment and HOPE.

This blog is dedicated to all the team members from Home Science Stream, GCET team, YAC sir and Pradeep Sir....Cheers!!

The upper world

Every individual in some part of his/her heart loves HEIGHTS. Heights of success, moral values, aspirations etc. Stake holders of individuals, to a good extend, regulates the magnitude or hunger of reaching relative heights. Seeing, thinking or aspiring heights is quite a positiveness in majority of cases.

How is this upper world? I do not have number of years to back my experience but yet I have a mind that thinks and I have memories to lead me to thoughts. I am not trying to re-write a PAGE 3 movie, but wish to interact on the practical challenges faced after reaching "HEIGHTS". Does reaching high really quenches the real thirst in the right way?

We have a limited years under our name to breath and growth is the most vital fact of it. Is the upper world a myth or a stage where we lose the real control and leave things on fate or do things under the name of fate? Are we really moving towards satisfaction or its a race with a dead end, quite unsatisfying.

I believe that reaching high should be through moral values. We should not just be a diplomatically expert individual but should be more importantly a highly accepted person. We got to understand the actual existence of upper world and devote ourselves with self satisfying deeds to enjoy the attained heights. We should leave behind justified and accepted footsteps to be followed by upcoming generation. In the rat race for reaching high, we are just growing with bad foundations. A rush to be successful in future is taking us away from enjoying our present.

We got to be there, in a great upper world with inner peace. We got to make a right world to justify the blessing of we possessing a "VISION"

Just move along around your world and you will feel the urge to know things. Variety and diversity are the economical need that has been captured as products or services. Today we find the demand escalating for different variety of commodities which initiates complexities in chain to supply the same. Worldwide, efforts are been put forward to reduce these complexities through identification of important variables that are required to understand the new supply chains and lean out the same for generating best efficiency. Value chain talks about the strategy been adopted for providing value added services or goods from suppliers’ supplier to customers’ customer and supply chain proves to be the operating mode to implement these strategies

If formation of a value chain is the initiation of any supply chain strategy then the first question that comes to forefront is, how to define the real VALUE. Any supply chain is a complete integration of various smaller supply chains run at individual levels and each such level has a different owner with his own definition for the actual value. As a universal acceptance, customer dominates the definition of final value. Thus as we move downstream in a supply chain we find every participant catering to the value driven need of the adjacent next participant and this effect moves till the final customer from the original supplier. The biggest task in complex supply chain is to capture the right demand of the customer and analyze the same to reduce error in planning and thus have a regulation over the supply chain for producing best results.

Here comes the challenging opportunity for the developing managers to identify the sources of right demand data and convert them to relevant information that can be utilized for effective forecasting in uncertain of demand scenario and thus make a move towards building an effective supply chain. Since now, every single participant of the supply chain concentrated on his own relevant data, individual decisions for the actual demand were made and utilized leading to bullwhip effects. People will thus find scattered cluster of information at different levels of the chain. Efforts are being put up to streamline this information cluster by connecting them together and making the complete information accessible to every participant in the supply chain so that they can use that for further analysis and action for increasing the overall value at better efficiency and proficiency. Information technology is the supporting platform for the actions been considered for streamlining the information chain. The answer to the complexity looks simple under the roof of developing technology; however sometimes the system becomes more complex if a process becomes slave to an automated system. Hence proper care is to be taken during the selection and implementation of automization.

After understanding the need for right information one has to think one step ahead; what is the future of information in a supply chain? One school of thought wants the information to be streamlined but on the other hand some consider information as the future currency. If that is true then every participant in supply chain will try to block this information to him and wait for higher premium reward for the same. If this process initiates then again we will land up in scattered clusters of information. Unlike the previous situation in this new situation individual participant will know the right link that can generate the maximum reward. The whole supply chain will increase its cost once again and probably we will land up at the stage from which we improved. Thus we have to think about eliminating the chances for the information from becoming future currency. We have to use it in proper direction for the best utilization.

The real understanding

I many a times think about the real expectation of 'understanding' precisely 'good understanding'. Is it just to stand under the roof of established facts and figures accepting hereditary way of thinking and dwelling the present and future to keep the tradition breathing or it talks about adapting continiously and effectively? When some one says I have good understanding then what are the parameters to judge the same? Generally maturity in understanding is considered directly proportional to age. To some extend it may be true but I think its very relative. See from the point of view of a young generation, they consider the older generation to be less understanding for not respecting their freedom. Similary the view point changes for a aged individual who considers the younger understanding less mature. I strongly believe that the only fact of life is "There is no rule". People want to jump very fast from hypothesis to theorem and in this hurry they lack to experiment and study more sample cases, highly required for conclusions. Probably I should write more on the same but I think I have sparked my thought and if i continue to put more of my words, I would be moving towards approacing a rule. This will canabalize my own view point. I would request the reader to take the discussion ahead from here and share with me the relative view point for me to learn and appreciate.
